Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) is an American rock band formed in 1996 in Palm Desert, California, by vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme following the dissolution of his stoner rock band, Kyuss. Known for their "robot rock" style—a blend of heavy, blues-influenced riffs, driving grooves, and melodic hooks—they gained international acclaim with landmark albums like Rated R and Songs for the Deaf.
