Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra (1915–1998) was an iconic American singer and actor who became one of the most influential entertainers of the 20th century. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, he rose to fame during the swing era as a "crooner" with the Harry James and Tommy Dorsey big bands before launching a solo career that sparked unprecedented "Sinatramania" among teenage "bobby soxers" in the 1940s. After a career slump in the early 1950s, he staged a legendary comeback by winning an Academy Award for his role in From Here to Eternity (1953) and signing with Capitol Records, where he released definitive albums like In the Wee Small Hours. As the leader of the "Rat Pack" and the founder of Reprise Records, he became a symbol of mid-century cool, recording timeless anthems such as "My Way" and "New York, New York".
