Corinne Bailey Rae
Corinne Bailey Rae is a British singer-songwriter and musician from Leeds, born in 1979, who became a global sensation with her soulful, jazz-inflected pop and "girl-with-a-guitar" aesthetic. Originally the frontwoman of an indie-rock band called Helen, she shifted to a solo career and released her self-titled debut album in 2006, which debuted at number one in the UK and featured the massive international hits "Put Your Records On" and "Like a Star." Her career has been marked by both immense success and profound resilience; following the tragic passing of her first husband, Jason Rae, she returned with the introspective and emotionally raw album The Sea in 2010, which was Mercury Prize-nominated.
