Christine and the Queens
Rahim Redcar, professionally known as Christine and the Queens, is a visionary French singer, songwriter, and producer whose work seamlessly blends art pop, synth-pop, and French chanson. Born Héloïse Letissier in Nantes in 1988, he adopted his famous moniker in 2010 after being inspired by a group of drag queens in London, who helped him find a new sense of artistic freedom following a personal crisis. He achieved massive international success with his 2014 debut album Chaleur Humaine (released as Christine and the Queens in the U.S.), featuring the hit single "Tilted". Over the next decade, his artistic identity continued to evolve through critically acclaimed projects like Chris (2018) and the operatic PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE (2023), reflecting his deeply public journey with gender and identity; in 2022, he shared that he identifies as a man and uses he/him pronouns. Most recently, in 2024, he rebranded under the name Rahim Redcar, describing it as a "healing" step toward self-actualization while maintaining "Christine and the Queens" as a distinct artistic legacy
