Chantal Kreviazuk
Chantal Jennifer Kreviazuk (born May 18, 1973) is a three-time Juno Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter, classically trained pianist, and humanitarian. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, of Ukrainian and Métis descent, she achieved breakout success with her 1996 debut album Under These Rocks and Stones and established herself as a mainstay of adult contemporary music with double-platinum hits like "Before You" and "Surrounded." Beyond her solo career, which spans ten albums, she is a prolific songwriter for global superstars, co-writing hits for Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Drake, and Gwen Stefani. Her music has also been widely featured in films and television, most notably her cover of "Leaving on a Jet Plane" for the Armageddon soundtrack. A dedicated activist, Kreviazuk was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2014 alongside her husband, Raine Maida (lead singer of Our Lady Peace), for their extensive work with organizations like War Child Canada.
