Zachary David Alexander Efron (born October 18, 1987) is an American actor who evolved from a teen idol into a versatile leading man and acclaimed character actor. He rocketed to fame as Troy Bolton in the High School Musical trilogy (2006–2008), a role that established him as a global household name and a powerhouse in the musical genre. Seeking to shed his "Disney" image, Efron successfully transitioned into comedies like Neighbors (2014) and The Greatest Showman (2017), before earning critical praise for his dramatic portrayal of serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019).
