Sandra Bullock is a highly acclaimed American-German actress and producer who rose to international stardom in the 1990s with her breakout role in the action thriller Speed (1994). Born on July 26, 1964, in Arlington, Virginia, she spent much of her childhood in Germany and Austria, where she was influenced by her mother’s career as an opera singer. After studying drama at East Carolina University and working various jobs in New York while auditioning, she established herself as a versatile lead in hits like While You Were Sleeping (1995), Miss Congeniality (2000), and the critically acclaimed Crash (2004). Her career reached a pinnacle in 2009 when she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side, followed by a second Oscar nomination for her performance in the space drama Gravity (2013).
