Hailee Steinfeld is a multifaceted American actress and singer born on December 11, 1996, in Los Angeles, California. Raised in a creative family, she was inspired to pursue acting at age eight after seeing her cousin perform in a commercial. Steinfeld achieved a historic breakthrough at just 14 when her film debut as Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers' western True Grit (2010) earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She transitioned into a major pop star following her role in Pitch Perfect 2, launching hit singles like "Love Myself" and "Starving" while continuing to lead acclaimed projects such as The Edge of Seventeen (2016), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination.
