
Ed Harris
Edward Allen Harris (born November 28, 1950) is a highly respected American actor and filmmaker known for his intense and authoritative screen presence. After discovering his passion for drama at the University of Oklahoma and later graduating from the California Institute of the Arts, he rose to prominence with his breakout role as astronaut John Glenn in The Right Stuff (1983). Over a career spanning four decades, Harris has earned four Academy Award nominations for his performances in Apollo 13 (1995), The Truman Show (1998), Pollock (2000)—which he also directed—and The Hours (2002). More recently, he gained widespread acclaim for his role as the enigmatic Man in Black in the HBO series Westworld (2016–2022). Off-screen, he has been married to actress Amy Madigan since 1983, with whom he has a daughter, Lily.
